Lead Teacher

Susan has been Bright Beginnings’ lead teacher since its inception. She has a Bachelors in Art/Education from Queens College and a Masters in Elementary Education from Lehman College. She holds a NYS teaching license to teach Nursery school through grade 6. She taught at the 4th Presbyterian Preschool in the Bronx for 7 years while taking breaks to have 4 children. She has been involved in many activities with children such as Cub Scout Den Leader, Christian Children Nurture team, tutoring migrant children, Vacation Bible School at HRC as well as on mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Ecuador, Sunday School, Youth Group volunteer and confirmation mentor.

Jessica joined Bright Beginnings as the director in 2012.  She has a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Pace University.  She has a Masters Degree in Reading from Western Connecticut State University.  She is certified in NYS to teach Nursery through Grade 6 in Elementary Education and Kindergarten through Grade 12 in Special Education.  Jessica taught a self-contained special education class for 6 years and has been a Special Education Itinerant Teacher for special needs preschool aged children.  She has been a member of the Bright Beginnings Board of Directors for one year.  She is married and has four children whom have all attended Bright Beginnings Preschool.

Assistant Teacher

Shauna grew up in Seattle and has lived in the Poughkeepsie area for over 21 years. She and her husband met while doing mission work on board the MV Logos in Latin America, with Operation Mobilization in the 80’s. She spent 17 years homeschooling her three sons. Shauna has a special interest in cultures and missions. With her family, she has taken multiple trips to different countries to work with underprivileged children, conducting soccer training and VBS style programs. She continues to encourage and promote missions and mentors a number of young missionary women in various countries. In her spare time, she is involved in a grassroots effort to start a Community Bible Study in the Mid-Hudson region, and volunteers with Love INC.
